The lovely Cindy of Shimmer Polish has sent me oodles of stunning polishes to review for you. I’ve decided to break my review up into three posts, since there are so many to talk about! Shimmer Polishes are all deliciously dense glittery creations – most of the polishes are made up of wonderful combinations of smaller glitters. The formula on each of these was great to work with, and each coat provides a ton of glitter coverage. You don’t have to fish around at all for the glitters! Cindy names each of her glittery polishes after a person she knows in real life – I just love that idea! It’s one of the reasons I think indie polish is so special; it’s made by a real person and that creativity really shines through. I wonder what colors would reflect my personality!
Each swatch shows three applications. The index and middle fingers are one coat of Shimmer polish layered over a base coat, and the ring and pinky fingers show three coats of Shimmer polish on its own. The ring finger shows some fun, simple nail art!
First up is the gorgeous Sarah. This polish immediately stood out to me and reminded me of a peacock! Sarah is a lovely mix of teal, blue, and purple glitter suspended in a clear base. On the index and middle fingers, I’ve layered Sarah over Sparitual Indigo. Since it reminded me of a peacock, I did a simple feather for my accent nail. You can see that Sarah looks great on its own at full opacity, or layered over another color.
Next we have Bernice, a black jelly polish with silver and blue glitter. I absolutely adore this polish – it’s so pretty! On the index and middle fingers, I’ve layered it over Sally Hansen Black Out. I love how it looks over black – the blue glitter really stands out.
Tracy is a stunning mix of gold and holo glitter, plus some interesting micro red glitter. I layered it over Essie Vermillion. Tracy seemed a little denser than some of the other polishes, and I think it would have reached full opacity in two coats (though three are shown here). I think this would be an absolutely perfect New Years polish!
Cleo is a purple jelly with purple, blue, and fuchsia glitters. I layered it over Sinful Colors Amethyst, and you can see that it actually looks quite similar when you build it up on its own. This is another favorite for me!
Jennifer is a mix of what I can only describe as pastel glitter. It has a periwinkle, light copper, and soft purple. For some reason, it really reminded me of summer and going to the beach – so I did an accent of a beach ball! I layered it over Essie Turquoise and Caicos. This one looks a bit different when built up on its own, I think because there are so many colors in the clear base. It’s so fun!
I absolutely adore these polishes. The formula for each polish is wonderful, absolutely jam packed with glitter but still easy to work with. They work well layered over another polish, or you can easily build them to opacity. They make a great base for nail art, too! I love the unique color combinations.
