Color Blocking

Posted on 10

The Dalai Lama's Nails: Color BlockToday I have a simple color block manicure, featuring Zoya polishes. I actually tried to do this manicure using tape, but it was so thick (so much topcoat), and I find freehanding easier. So I wiped it off and started over, and I’m really pleased with the results! This sort of manicure is simple, but quite striking.

The Dalai Lama's Nails: Color BlockI had such a hard time photographing this manicure. It’s really shiny – so much glare! And for some reason the color of my skin looks really wonky. Wonky, I say! Anyways, this was a simple mani. I used Zoya Charisma, Zoya Trixie, and Zoya Storm. I love how the colors contrast with each other – and Storm is one of my favorite colors. The sparkles, the sparkles! So pretty.

  • Love this! Charisma’s one of my favorite purple polishes (I have it on right now with a saran wrap manicure… gonna post it soon). And I’m impressed with how straight your freehand lines are! Such a pretty manicure 🙂

    • Thanks, lady! I seriously have no patience for tape. I tried it, and it was a mess. A mess! Charisma is so nice, I seriously love how bright it is!

      • I should work on my freehanding. I use tape, but I’m so impatient that I usually put it on too early and it messes up my base color! Do you use the polish brush or nail art brushes for your lines?

        • For this, I used a striper to draw in the color block outlines, and then filled everything in with the polish brush

  • These are fun and I love the colors you chose to use here too! I need to try this 🙂

    • 🙂 Thank you! It’s pretty easy and you have freehanding skills! Or you could break out the tape 🙂

  • Ooooh! Sooo cooooooooool!!!! Love the colors and the style to death!

  • SEXY!
