Brooke Anderson by Gabriel Cosmetics: Swatches and Review (partial)

[maxbutton id=”1″]

Today I have a partial collection to share with you – it’s the Brooke Anderson by Gabriel Cosmetics collection. The six polishes that make up this collection are all 5-free and inspired by the south. I’m always excited when I discover 5-free polishes. I have three of the six polishes to share with you today!Brooke Anderson for Gabriel Cosmetics: Blue Belle | The Dalai Lama's Nails

First up is Blue Belle, which is a shimmery cobalt blue polish. I really like the depth of this shade, and the color is really striking. I found the formula to be a little thicker than I would like, but still workable. This is two coats, with topcoat. Brooke Anderson for Gabriel Cosmetics: Southern Belle | The Dalai Lama's Nails

Southern Belle is a red-toned purple. I like this shade for winter! The formula was much thinner than Blue Belle – I had some pooling in my cuticles, so be careful with application! This is two coats, with top coat.

Brooke Anderson for Gabriel Cosmetics: Darlin' | The Dalai Lama's Nails

Darlin’ is a green jelly base with blue, silver, and purple glitters. It’s a very pretty combination! It builds up to opacity in two coats, but it is a little thick. I think it works better as a glitter topper over a solid base. In the photo below, I layered it over two coats of Blue Belle, and I love the affect, much more than on its own!

One other thing I want to talk about: the bottle caps! I’ve seen polishes with square caps that you can remove, so that when you’re applying the polish you don’t have to try to hold an unwieldy bottle cap (like Butter London, for example). I wasn’t able to remove the square part of the cap, and I found it a bit difficult to hold and apply.

The Brooke Anderson for Gabriel Cosmetic polishes retail on the Gabriel website for $8.50 each, and I just noticed that the set is on sale for $38.50!

  • What a bummer about the lids! Those look like the same ones Bondi used and I hated them…they were removable but took too much effort for me to take them off. At least they look pretty. Love that blue!

These didn’t seem removable to me, and believe me – I tried!

  • TKny

I love the colors! If the polish consistency is very thick, does it mean one coat would be enough to cover well?
BTW, If a color polish is “diluted” with clear color such as NYC “topcoat” (when they don’t sell a base coat as far as I know), would the “frankened” polish become a jelly?
Thanks very much in advance for the info.

    • The Dalai Lama’s Nails

One would probably do! It still seemed slightly patchy to me at one coat. Mmmmm good question about the top coat – I haven’t tried that!

  • That glitter! I love it both on its own and layered!

    • The Dalai Lama’s Nails

      Isn’t it lovely?

  • Great swatches of all these shades. There nice.

  • I find it so hard to use those square caps when you have no chance to remove it for a hidden one!
