Best of 2013

Posted on 8

Well, today is a two post kind of day, it would seem! I wanted to share a quick look back through the year. It’s been a big year for me – not only in the world of nail polish, but in real life, too! I got married (!!), went on a honey moon, left my job, and moved across the country with my sweetie. Plus, I hit my 2 year blogiversary mark. I just discovered that I was featured in The Crumpet’s list of blogs to watch in 2014. What a year! It was really hard to narrow down the photos, so I decided to pick my favorite from each month. Without further ado –

The Dalai Lama's Nails: Cinderella Who DunnitIn January 2013, I perfected the art of the gradient with these Cinderella themed nails I rocked at a murder mystery party. I didn’t watermark my photos then (eek. But I’m not going to go through all my old photos and re-mark them… so… oh well).

The Dalai Lama's Nails: Have You Da Wing?In February, I tried these nails out hoping they’d be my wedding nails! In the end, I just wore the gradient without the stamping because I ran out of time. But it’s pretty with the gold on top, too!
20130308-224229.jpgIn March, I discovered how to use a fan brush! It’s definitely an overlooked tool in my arsenal of brushes.
The Dalai Lama's Nails: Color block gradientIn April, I gave these Mr Candiipants style color block gradient nails a try. Love em! (I should try this again…).
The Dalai Lama's Nails: weddingIn May, I got married! I had a lot of favorite nails in May, but for sentimental reasons, this one takes the cake. Yay, wedding nails! You can sort of see my dress in the background, too.
The Dalai Lama's Nails: Clear SkiesIn June, I paid tribute to my awesome dad with these sailing nails for Father’s Day! The best is yet to come is kind of his catch-phrase, and I think he’s onto something – I’m really looking forward to all that 2014 has in store.
The Dalai Lama's Nails: Bling BlingIn July, I got real fancy and went with the most bling I could muster! I wore this look to a dear friend’s wedding.
The Dalai Lama's Nails: Outlined GradientIn August, I got really into outlined nails! Outlines + gradients = a win in my book!

The Dalai Lama's Nails: Rosh HashanaSeptember brought with it the Jewish New Year, and I wore these improved upon Rosh Hashana nails. Loved these! And look, this is where I decided on my watermark.Day 3: Yellow NailsIn October, I started the 31 Day Challenge – so this month had a million manicures and it was so hard to pick a favorite. This one brought me out of my comfort zone, though, and I just really dig it! I also got my lighting figured out with a new natural spectrum lamp.Day 28: Inspired by a FlagI finished the 31 Day Challenge in November, and there were more good manis in that month, too! But I’m proud of these Colorado state flag nails – and I’m glad I’m living here now!

The Dalai Lama's Nails: Guest Post at the Sparkle QueenIn early December, I did a guest post at the Sparkle Queen. I came up with these swirly henna-y nails while she was off on her honeymoon. I’m also digging these shorties – maybe I’ll go back to that length!

So, that’s it! Wishing you all an amazing New Year! I’ve had a great year, and I’m looking forward to more fun stuff in 2014! See you all on the flippity-flip.
